Community-Based Research
Bringing Researchers and Community Needs Together

Welcome to the Stetson Community-Based Research Wiki!
What is the Stetson Community Based Research (CBR) Program?
With support from a federal Learn and Serve grant, coordinated by Princeton University, Stetson University is one of eighteen universities participating in the National Community-Based Research Networking Initiative. The Stetson University Community-Based Research program facilitates faculty, student, and community collaboration to plan and conduct research. Community-Based Research has a strong focus on addressing social problems identifed by the community. Students learn to apply the theories and methods they have mastered in the classroom to real problems in the community and communities gain access to the rich research resources of the University. The result is a powerful learning experience for students and faculty as well as a valuable research product for communities.
The Stetson CBR Wiki
What is a Wiki? Wikis are a cross between a wikipedia page and a blog in that not only can people comment on each page (like a blog), but people who have access can edit the actual content of each page (like a word document). The result is a collaborative, integrative tool that allows you to add whatever content you want to a ready-made website. The purpose of this wiki is to provide an online forum for faculty, student, and community partner collaboration concerning community-based research, as well as other related resources and information.
How do I use this Wiki? The Side Bar provides a menu of CBR topics from which to choose; if you are a community partner, student researcher, or faculty member and do not see an appropriate outlet for your CBR needs here, create one! Please feel free to add your thoughts on each topic via the comment function, or edit the page content. Use this site as a forum to share community needs, discuss research ideas and methods, plan programs and curricula, publish CBR project findings, and a plethora of other CBR applications.
If you are a community partner, or would like to become one, please fill out this brief, six question form addressing your research needs:

The Stetson CBR sub-award has been renewed for a final year by the Princeton University CBR grant staff. The sub-award will end June 30, 2010. We have about $10,000 dollars available to fund course-related and independent study CBR activities that collaborate directly with community partners. The CBR program at Stetson University will continue after the external funding ends.
